I realised early on that my film could benefit from a use of props. I feel that I am now in a position where I can effectivley implement some props into my short film.
This following Emaze is about a few prop ideas that I could implement into my short film.
Family photo
A family photo from Nathan could be a prop that can easily be implemented into the short film.
I'm thinking that this prop could be used at the end of the short film, just before Nathan passes on into the afterlife.
A family photo could be used to evoke an emotional response from the audience, and perhaps make the character of Nathan more relatable. It would also tie well with the scene at the end where they do talk about family.
Hourglass
An hourglass would also be quite an easy prop to implement into my short film.
It could be used at several times throughout the short film, perhaps having the Grim Reaper checking how long left Nathan has.
The hourglass could be used to signify how Nathan's time is running out. The Grim Reaper has been assossicated with an hourglass in the past, often clutching one in paintings.
This would be a good way to let the viewers know that Nathan's time is limited, and that he hasn't got much longer left.
fOB WATCH
An alternative to the hourglass, the fob watch could be implemented very easily aswell and would in well with the image of the Grim Reaper.
Like the hourglass, the fob watch could be used several different times in the film.
The fob watch, like the hourglass, could be used to signify how that Nathan's time is actually running out.
The fob watch is quite an aged form of keeping time, and I think it would fit perfectly with the image of the Grim Reaper.
file
The file is mentioned in the short film about half way through, and is described as being a file on everything about Nathan.
I could easily re-shoot this scene and actually include a real file.
The file can be used in two different ways. The file could be very thick, full of information, to signify how much a life Nathan has lived.
Or it could be empty, to imply that Nathan has lived quite an un-eventful life. Either way would be good and fit the film.
The file isn't something normally associated with the Grim Reaper, so this could be a unique and modern twist on the character.
