Muhammad Ali was  born as Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. on January 17, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky. Muhammad Ali showed at an early age that he wasn't afraid of anything. Cassius Clay, Sr (Muhammad Ali's father) , worked as a sign painter and his mother, Odessa Clay, worked as a maid and Muhammad Ali had a younger brother named Rudy Clay. In southern states like Kentucky were segregated by race. .Therefore, Ali got to witness racism first hand.

When Ali was just 12 years old a mean person stole his bike! Therefore, Ali got very, very angry and he had said to a police officer that he wanted to beat that person up.But the police officer was like well I think you should just go fight, you should learn how to fight before you get into any fights and luckily that police officer was a  a real coach for boxing. Therefore, coach Joe Martian offered to coach Cassius and so Cassius learned how to fight. Cassius after a while started fighting in armature boxing. He fought in 105 and five Cassius won 100 of them and he lost to only 5 people. 

When Muhammad Ali's career took off he won 7 battles and most of his other battles by  knocking his opponents out.In 1964, Cassius got his chance to fight for the title he went for it. He defeated Sonny Liston by knockout him out, after when the 7th round was just starting Liston refused to come out and fight Cassius. Muhammad Ali was now the heavyweight champion of the world.

In 1960, Cassius traveled to Rome and Italy to participate in the Olympics. He defeated all his opponents to win the Gold Medal to bring it home. Upon returning home, Cassius was an American hero. Instead of sticking with the Olympic's Cassius decided to turn to professional boxing. 

In 1964, Cassius converted to the religion of Islam. He then took his first changed his name from Cassius Clay to Cassius X, but later changed it to Muhammad Ali. He fought in twenty-two professional heavyweight championship bouts, he has been married four times and has nine children. His youngest daughter, Laila Ali, was an undefeated professional boxer with a record of 24-0 Cassius was voted the number 1 heavyweight of the 20th century by the Associated Press. Cassius died June 3rd 2016.
