STAR WARS
THE FORCE AWAKENS
TEASER TRAILER ANALYSIS
GENRE
The genre of the film is sci-fi action and in most people's opinion, the best sci- fi movie series ever. This film was originally created by George Lucas, but was recently bought by Disney for $4 billion. The thesis of Star Wars is good and evil. It actually has a religious connotation as religion mainly articulates about good and evil and in most cases, good rules over evil.
However, there are many cases which move away from good fighting against evil. There is a lot of romance depicted in the film, there isn't constant doom and gloom. This is the case with many films and although Star Wars is a fantasy, there are a lot of real circumstances within this realm.
OPENINGAND
SOUND
The first shot we see from the Star Wars teaser is the Lucas logo in the centre of the frame, taking up most of the space of the shot, familiarising to the audience the main star wars company.
Establishing shot
We then have a low horizon establishing shot of a star destroyer, a iconic ship in the star wars franchise, The teaser trailer is fully effective to those who grew up watching the franchise and this scene alone is used to excite the audience.
DIALOGUE
This scene is used to make the audience speculate about where the story will lead to in the near future.  We then move away from the shot from the desert island and the next scene is followed up by a narration from one of the main characters Luke Skywalker, portrayed by Mark Hamill. The dialogue is a repeat from a prequel film "Return of the Jedi" and we also have a centre framed shot of the Iconic Darth Vader helmet. This further questions the audience and this scene could hold some importance to later Star wars projects.
FURTHERMORE
The audience then draws their eyes to a close up shot of the helmet, It almost looks like a skull with the detail replicating that of a human skull and this is used to question whether the empire is eventually going to rise from the ashes.

The next shot we see is a lightsaber being passed, from people's comments, they believe that the lightsaber is reminniscent to a previous star wars character "Anakin Skywalker". Afterwards, we then have a shot with a lot of X-Wing battleships flying over the horizon. We then have a reaction shot of one of the pilots how seems to be enjoying himself in a unenjoyable situation.
TWO PERSON SHOT
Furthermore, we get a two person reaction shot of a man and a woman, the woman, Daisy Ridley, welds a staff and in the background, contains shield generators.  Again replicating the pace of the trailer, it is fast paced with a lot of action, hyping the excitement. A typical code for teaser trailers.
CLOSE UP REACTION SHOT
the next scene is a close up shot of the main antagonist of the film "Kilo Ren".  The mask we can see is very indicative of a very typical star wars influenced image of a typical antagonist. Another typical star wars manoeuvre displayed is the hand gesture for using the force, very reminiscent to the entire star wars franchise. There are new characters in the background of this shot, however, the background is obscured and is barely visible.
WIDE SHOT
We then move to a wide and framed shot of the stormtroopers. This shot is almost reminiscent to a world war 2, triumph of the will replication. There seems to be a lot of propaganda portrayed with symbols in the background. Much like a typical teaser trailer, throughout there are very fast paced shots with rapid movements of the characters to identify to the audience that there is a lot of action and the short snippets are used to show glimpses of most of the main attraction and action in the film.
