The trailer is effective as it primarily uses straight cuts to get an idea of the action. It also uses very little dialogue, with the large majoirty of the sound coming from the breathing of presumably Dicaprio's character. The trailer is also effective due to the fact that it uses remote but a beautiful location setting that is rarely seen in movies such as these.

It's also effective as it makes the audience feel the pain that Dicaprio's character is going through. This is seen through the dialogue and the shots in which we find out that his son has been murdered. It also uses multiple close up shots to show the pain that he is witnessing and feeling.
