  • Shrek and The taming of The Shrew are two very similar stories with nearly identical story lines. 
  •  Major A: Both stories have corresponding versions of how the two unlikely lovers meet.
  • Minor 1: Petruchio wanted to marry Kate for her rich dowry, not for her love
  • Minor 2: Shrek rescued Fiona from the castle in order to win back his swamp from Lord Farquad, not intending to fall in love along the way.
  • Major B: Both characters eventually began to feel real, authentic love for each other
  • Minor 1: Att the end of Taming of the Shrew, Kate gives a speech about how women should love, respect, and obey their husbands without question or defiance
  • Minor 2: At the end of Shrek, Fiona admits her true love for Shrek and lets go of her rebellious character traits to become the loving wife and mother that she used to be

Topic Sentence:
The Taming of the Shrew and The Shrek Series have two similar characters, Shrek and Petruchio; their ways of handling women and their character traits are characteristics they share.
   
Major A: Implement a sense of obedience into their wives
-Fiona becomes obedient and comforts him when the two meet with her parents
-Katharina finally comes around at a dinner party when she tell the other women to obey their husbands
Major B: Petruchio and Shrek are both seen as the hero
-Petruchio is portrayed as the hero because he tames the horrid shrew, Katharina
-Shrek is portrayed as the the hero because he had defeats beasts and Lord Farquaad all for Fiona




                                                                                           

Fiona vs Kate
Topic Sentence: Fiona and Kate are two alike characters from two similar stories; Taming of the Shrew and the Shrek Series. The are both strong independent women and they venture out of the characteristics of noble women.

M1: Both Fiona and Kate are implacable female characters.
  -Fiona fights for herself and along with Shrek. This is aparent in the forest scene where Fioana fights agroup of men.
  -Kate is similar in her interdependence from men with her stance on marriage. 
M2: Fiona and Kate venture out of the damsel in distress character.
  -Fiona rips away from the expectation of being the princess she was supposed to be. This is shown when Fiona is not offended by Shrek's burps but joins in.
  -Kate is very different from the women of her time. She is defiant.
