Plate Tectonics
In this presentation you will be learning about the different types of plate movement.
Divergent
Divergent plate movement is when two plates move away from each other. This movement can result in volcanic activity. Divergent movement happens at a mid ocean ridge or oceanic plates
Convergent
Convergent plate movement is when the two plates are going towards each other. This will usually start to form a mountain. Making one mountain will take millions of years. Not only will it form mountains but it will also form volcanic activity on the crust plate. When this movement happens there is an oceanic plate and Earth's crust moving toward each other.
subduction
A subduction zone happens at a convergent plate boundary. By which one tectonic plate moves under another tectonic plate and sinks into the mantle as the plates converge. Then comes the pressure build up against the magma. This pressure is just strong enough that it will cause the magma to overflow A.K.A. volcanic Eruption.

Mid ocean ridges
Mid-ocean ridges are at divergent boundaries. They are responsible for sea floor spreading. Usually they have a valley called a rift running down their spine. The magma will start to rise as magma it self and emerge at the oceanic crust and explode as lava.
Transform
This is the boundry that slides past one another. They are connected to subduction zones and accomodate sea floor spreading. Most transform faults are deep in the ocean where they form short zig-zaggy patterns.
