Looking back at our preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
To make our title sequence the best it can possibly be, it needed a lot of hard work and determination. Over the course of the preparation, we changed our storyboard and shot list a lot, as well and our locations because we had to think about the restrictions and what would be able to work without going against the risk assessment we had work so hard on. We thought hard on the costumes because we wanted our main character to be dressed as someone who doesn't really care for their appearance, here are screenshots of our first storyboard:
When I first started Media Studies, I was so confused about everything and I really struggled at the start. For my prelim task I was one of the actors and I made up some of the dialogue, we didn't really focus a lot on costumes and location because we had a limited amount of time, so the actors wore the same clothes they were wearing on the day and we used a classroom for our location. The prop that was given to us was a skateboard and I believe we incorporated it in the prelim very.

Mise- En- Scene
For our Prelim because we had a limited amount of time, we didn't focus on costumes at all. The only key part was the shoes when the actor was limping. For our location we were given a doctor's room, so we borrowed some red chairs to make it seem more believable. we were very lucky to have the advantage of good lighting, as for the storyline it wasnt really hard to come up with one because it really just made itself
For our title sequence Unbalance, we put a lot of thought into the costumes because we wanted the characters to contrast really well. For our main character which was played by me, we went for something quite dull and simple for the bedroom scene and then for the other scenes it was the same concept. For our other main character, we wanted something dark and mysterious, so we went with a long black trench coat and a big hat to cover the face. We had to keep track of our timing so we wouldn't film when it was getting dark.

Camera work
Prelim
Unbalance
There were a range of shots I had never heard of during our prelim, so we decided to explore with them such as, using low angle shot and an over the shoulder. Using a fig rig made it much easier to do the walking scenes because it made the camera more steady. We also took inconsideration the 180 degree rule which helped us know where to place the camera
I think we showed a variety of camera shots, including shots that are used in the conventions of a thriller genre for example, over the shoulder shot. I think this was very effective because with the blurred out background it's only focusing on the mind of the mysterious character
Sound Quality
Prelim
For my prelim we didn't really have any advanced sound, it was just dialogue. At that time we were aware of the range of sounds such as diegetic and on diegetic sound. I think if we used a variety of sound it would have enhanced the performance of our work
Unbalance
For Unbalance we put in a lot of effort with the sound, we thought about the layering of the sound. We decided we would not have any voice sound because it would be more effective to let the layering of sound set the atmosphere. We added foley sound such as footsteps and heartbeats to make it more believable
Editing
Prelim
Unbalance
the editing in our prelim was very basic, we cut down some scenes and put in scenes from different angles. We couldn't really do anymore than that because everyone in our group was new to the editing software
The editing process was much more difficult because even though we figured out how to use the software we had much more to do with our title sequence. We put in a lot of new techniques such as transitions between shots, colours grading, this made the overall performance look more profesional
What I have learned over the process
To conclude I have learned many things such as how to use Premiere Pro and After Effects. I have also learnt that teamwork is key when being in a group and learning how to communicate our ideas in a civil way. It was also very important to keep up with blog posts because it can get really tough towards the end and mainly being able to enjoy the process even though it has been very stressful
