DOMAIN SPECIFIC VOCABULARY
What is domain specific vocabulary?

It is when you use specific vocabulary in your writing (or you see it in your reading) and it shows that you are an expert on that topic.

Let's look at some examples. Then we will try to create some!

Come up with domain specific words that go with the topic

Remember!!!
Plan for domain specific vocabulary when you first start planning your writing

Have 6-8 words planned

Use your sources to find words

When you put a word on your list, think.... Do I know a fancier version of that word?

Don't forget to use the words when you are:
explain, elaborating, or giving
examples!
How do you feel about using DOmain Specific vocabulary?

Rate yourself
1- I do not understand and need my teacher to reteach

2- I am starting to get it but I still need help

3- I can do this! I get it!

4- I get it, and I can even
explain and teach it to someone else.
