Digital blog post#f- chapter 8

We all use social media to communicate with one another. Why not use it with teachers/students as well, we are all always on our devices. Have you ever had to ask your teacher something about the homework or project that's due and have had no way to do so? Now for the older generation instead of your parent having to email your teacher you can do it yourself. Some ways one can communicate with students/ teachers is by Email, Teacher or Classroom websites, Blogs, Online discussions and Wikis. This is extremely helpful for everyone because instead of waiting for next day response you can have it within minutes.

Sharing information with families is a great way for families and teachers to get feedback. Nowadays students don't tell their parents what they did in school nor what their grades are. If there was a way of parents looking online on what teachers do in school and what they go over they can help their children be more successful. Some students go the wrong path because of influence and others because not enough parent interaction. Teachers and families play a big role in a student's life, they just need to know how to help them out, even if it's for 30 minutes a day.
While reading, I came across using wikis as a collaborative learning strategy. I already know some things about a wiki, like we are using it in class right now to work on a collaborative learning strategy. I think wikis are great, students and teachers can discuss everything right there and everyone else can see what is being said. I like the discussions because if a peer comments on another peers page about how they can make it better, it can be helpful for you as well. This is great as well because the teacher can see exactly what has been done and it's helpful when it comes to grading. I will definitely use wikis when I start teaching.

In conclusion, I read many interesting things that I somewhat knew but definitely expanded my knowledge on them. There are many great points in this chapter because it helps you see all the different ways one can communicate with one another. Communication is always key but doesn't necessarily have to be face to face.
