The Tundra ecosystem
In this presentation we will be showing you the food web, food chain and energy pyramid of the tundra.

Food Chain
The News of the Ice
Like all food chains there are: producers,  consumers, and decomposers. The producers are the plants which are consumed by the caribou, and other herbivores. The herbivores are eaten by the polar bears. Then after the bears die, they are decomposed by decomposers.
A food chain in the tundra
energy pyramid
The tundra is a challenging environment to live in because there is little plant growth.  The energy pyramid starts with the producer, the lichen. Next comes the primary consumer, the lemming. The secondary consumer appears next on the chart, the arctic fox. Lastly the polar bear is the tertiary consumer because nothing eats it. Its oly predator is Humans:(
food web
The polar bears are at the top of the food chain. The only predator for the Polar bear are humans (not shown on this ecosystem chart). Polar bears eat the Arctic seal and the Atlantic salmon and has no predator therefor making it the top of its food web.
The Arctic seal is eaten by the polar bear.
The polar bear eats the Atlantic salmon, and the arctic seal does too.
The Arctic tern eats the Atlantic salmon which than eats the krill.
The Arctic hare eats the Arctic willow, which is also eaten by the Lemming.
The Ermine also consumes the Lemming. The Arctic wolf eats the Caribou, who then eats the tufted saxifrage.
The Caribou and Musk ox eat the Lichen. The Ptarmigan also consumes the Lichen.
