- Beginning in the late 1800s, Uganda was colonized by Great Britain.

- To the British, the main purpose of controlling Uganda was the economic gain from the natural goods and resources.

Positive Effects
- Colonization enabled cultural diffusion. It brought new religions and ideas to them.

Negative Effects
- Colonization took away their traditions and culture.
- The British exploited their resources.
- They forced Ugandans into labor.
