INDIE CODES AND CONVENTIONS
Indie locations
Stereotypically, indie music videos are set in areas that are easy to access, as they are mainly low budget. Therefore, places like public parks, houses, towns, as they are easily accessible to the public. Since our music video will follow indie conventions, using such locations will be  an easy way to do so.
Looking at the costumes that are worn by indie artists, they usually consist of retro style, and more often represent the artist, alongside their body language and facial expressions. Costume and makeup are one of the most important things for indie stars, as for them it forms their identity.
Costumes
Instead of mainly focusing on performance, indie music videos have started to use the narrative style more in order to show a story that their audience can deeply connect with. The link between the visuals and the lyrics would go really well with the use of narrative in the music video, as the links to intertextuality could be seen clearer by the audience, and make them more procative within the fan community.
Narrative Style
Popularity of closeups
The use of closeups, especially of the singer is a convention for all of the genres, including indie. The reason behind the common use of close ups is to form a relationship with the audience by letting them see the details of the star's face and features, in order to recognise them better in the future. This is especially used a lot by stars who are just about to launch, as they are not known at all, and this is the easiest way to recognition. We will also adhere to this convention of the use of closeups, as we are launching a brand new star, and we need to establish a relationship with our audience from the start.
