Living Things
Non-Living Things
Non-living things are the opposite of living things. While living things grow and respond to stimuli, non-living things do not. They can't reproduce.
With a partner, identify the living things in these pictures.
With a partner, identify the non-living things in these pictures.
Living things have different categories.
Key points about the different kingdoms:
Plants are made of plant cells and they make their own food.
Animals are made of animal cells with a nucleus. Animals do not make their own food.
Bacteria are single-celled organisms without a nucleus.
Achaea are single-celled as well, but have a different chemical make-up than bacteria.
Protists are microscopic and are usually found in pond water.
Fungi are decomposers - they absorb energy from dead organisms.
With a partner, identify which organisms belong to the plant kingdom, and which belong to the animal kingdom.
With a partner, identify where you might find bacteria and/or protists.
Things to Remember
Living things consume energy and grow.
Non-living things do not consume energy or grow.
Living things are separated into 6 kingdoms
Plant
Animal
Bacteria
Archaea
Protists
Fungi
