Selecting The Image
I chose to add the image from my CD cover for my poster. In order to keep the effects the same I inserted my CD cover onto Photoshop as a JPEG. I then transformed the image to suit a landscape frame. I then used the clone stamp tool form Photoshop to hide the text which was on my CD. The result of this is I was then left with the background image for my Poster.
Adding A Title
I decided to put the name of the artist at the top of my poster. This is because I think this makes my poster stand out against others when it is on a rack in a shop. I added an outline around my title because I felt it blended into the background. Also people are more likely to relate to the name of the artist especially considering you can't see the face the artist.
Adding The Text
Adding text is a key feature to my poster and also a key convention. I chose to add the following: a release date,  a website, title of the album and the words 'Debut Album'. I also changed the size of the font, the style of the font and the colours which I used.
Adding The CD Cover
I chose to keep the main image of my poster the same as the front cover of my CD. I think this creates continuity across all three products. Also when people see my poster they may want to go out of buy the Digipak. Therefore it makes it clear for the audience to know what my Digipak looks like.
Social Media Icons
I added social media icons to the bottom of my poster. One reason for this is because my target audience is young people and young people are very socially connected. Therefore if my artist appears to be on many social media sites they are going to become a brand which people can consume from (universally.) However I removed Pinterest from my poster as I believe that this is no longer a common form of social media. Also having six icons made my poster very busy and untidy.
All My Drafts
Final Product
This my final poster for my ancillary text. I am really happy with how it has turned out. I think it looks very effective as a poster promoting a new Digipak. Also the colours and social media icons all suit my target audience. I also think the CD image helps the audience to make the connection between the poster and what my CD cover looks like.
