Second generation
Atari released the fairchild video entertainment system in 1976. The VES, however, contained a programmable microprocessor and stored it games on cartidges. Commodore 64, the BBC micro and the ZX Spectrum.

Third generation
In 1984, Nintendo released the NES, Nintendo came packaged with a Super Mario brothers game and light gun. Super Mario brothers revived the industry and sega's master system was released to compete with the NES.

Sega's Mega Drive was released in japan on october 29, 1988, Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES).
