  •  American Wolf Hunters attacked Ojibwe tribe
  • Wolfers Accused Chief Little Soldiers people stole a horse in Montana *The horse had run away actuallyy*
  • Drunken wolfers killed 36 men, women and children for revenge 
  • Wolfers poisoned prey of Aboriginal dogs who then died
Illegal Trading and Iner-Tribal Warfare
  • In the mid-1800's, American fur traders began to introduce Native peoples to liquor, which had a devastating effect on their way of life.
  • Traders started to illegally sell cheap liquor to aboriginals
  •  Aboriginals of North-West Canada were eager to trade their furs for European tools, food, and weaponry.
  • The liquor was frequently called "firewater"
  • They traded strong, cheap liquor, which benefited them immensely, allowing them to make better deals
  • The liquor trading led to widespread alcoholism, famine, malnutrition and death 
McDonald  needed to bring law into order now
  • Dominion of Canada bought The Northwest Territories from The Hudson Bay Company
  • The crime rate was high in that region
  • Officers surveying the land recommended 100-150 officers to keep law in order
  • United States was fearing a military buildup
  • Europeans&Natives feared it sounded too militaristic which was antagonizing
  • The force was then organized under Calvary regiment of the British army
