As a newer artist, Tom Odell's music videos generally have tones, themes, and characteristics that they stick to. It supports Goodwins music theory of 'genre characteristics' as his videos have a mixture of low-key and high-key lighting, themes of love, and personal performances. Odell has, however, created his own theme and unique expectation of playing a piano, this creates much softer tones to his songs.

Taking into consideration the themes, characteristics and tones that Odell achieves in his videos, I feel confident that I can also create a video for his "grow old with me" that is suitable to his style; by using low-key and high-key lighting. However aspects of my video will be different, for example the style of narrative that I aim to make. The target audience for my video will simply be Odell fans, and I would hope that they recognise the same characteristics as the ones in the videos that Odell himself produces.

The covers and adverts that Odell features on often reflect very accurately his unique style and genre that he represents. He is presented as almost careless but a very strong individual, by the that he is the center of the shot, with subtle backgrounds, this allows him to stand out as he is visually the brightest in the frame, which makes the audience focus on him.

Th adverts presented here, like many of his, show him as if hes in action and almost unaware of the photo being taken, this is general theme that runs throughout the indie genre a it makes that artist appear more free and relaxed.

Odell currently only has one album, however, on this cover it is obvious that he is creating themes of his own that fit the indie genre. His cover is very simplistic and again like an action-shot. This reflects characteristics of the genre being relaxed.
Odell, here, has made a very close reference between his music videos and album covers, which also makes a connection to his songs and style of music.  With the lighting and general mise-en-scene of the cover, there are obvious connections that feature in his videos.

Odell's single covers closely mimic his album cover and are all 'action shots' making it very relaxed but also visually appealing as he seems like a member of the general public which the audience can therefore relate to. The covers all look very similar and have the same simplistic design, this creates a unique style of Odells and makes the tones and themes that are present in his videos and album cover also present here, therefore making direct links between them.

The tones in his single covers are also closely linked to his songs in general but also the specific singles that they represent. This supports Goodwins theory of 'connections of the visual and music.'
