It was called ‘Rain Stones’. When she sent it to her editor she was told it was the messiest and the worst spelt story anyone had ever submitted. This was mainly because she had dyslexia. After the book was published it was one of the books chosen to compete for the ‘Young Readers Book of the Year Award’ from the ‘Children’s Book Council of Australia’ and the ‘NSW Premier’s Award’.

first book
The first book I read was called 'Hitler's Daughter'. It was about three kids, Mark Anna & Tracey. One day Anna tells Mark and Tracey a story about a girl called Heidi who is Hitler's daughter. Heidi doesn't know that her father is evil and is killing the Jewish people, gypsies & Gay people.  She lives away from her farther & doesn't see him often. She lives with a women called Fraulein Gelber who looks after her in her fathers absence. When the war starts to get really bad she has to move to another house in the country. There she meets Frau Leib. Only a few days later they are told the Western Forces are coming so Heidi & Fraulein Gelber have to leave to Berlin where Heidi's father is staying. When they get there they are put in a small room with a bunk-bed where they only get a small supply of food because they are running out. Fraulein Gelber makes them save the bread & cheese but during the night she runs away. The next morning Heidi hears her father yelling and goes to him. When she gets into the room her father sees her. He pretends he doesn't know her to keep her safe. He sends her to a train station with one of the Nazi soldiers, who is very nice to Heidi. He sends her there to be taken away by a German family. When Heidi gets there the the family that was going to take her were killed by two army tanks. The soldier that was with her also died, the tanks shot both his arms off & he died. She was found by a Jewish women & taken in. Her new family was Johannes, Frau Erna & another Johannes Schmidt. She was now known as Helga Schmidt.

In this book there are 6 stories. My favourite one is:
The of the Unicorn-The main character is a girl called Ethel. Ethel has a pet unicorn which makes her the Lady of the Unicorn. Ethel is walking up a mountain. Half way up she gets caught in a snare which triggers a bell up on the small house on top of the mountain. Ethel can hear someone sing. The creature that it ends up being is a giant. When the giant gets to Ethel she undoes the snare and starts talking about how she's going to cook her. When Ethel doesn't run the giant asks her why & invites Ethel into her house. The giants name is Alice but Ethel calls her M'um Alice. M'um Alice invites Ethel to come over the next night to meet her friend Hingram who is M'um Alice's friend.  The next night she goes to meet
Hingram. When she sees him he doesn't look human but he is. He walks on all fours and is covered in hair.
At first Hingram is scared of Ethel but when she gives him some meet he isn't as scared. When Hingram
finally leaves Ethel goes home to. A few nights later Ethel goes back to M'um Alice & M'um Alice brings her
to a gather with all the forest people. When they get there Ethel is very scared of all the people there. She
was scared of them because they were different. When a short lady with a hunched back came up to her the lady asked her what she was doing there. Ethel told her that M'um Alice brought her and the lady was very thankful. Ethel ran away thinking that M'um Alice only wanted to be her friend because she was the lady of the unicorn and thought Ethel could help her friends. The T'manians come & they have to fight them. They are helped by the people of the forest. They win.
Some other books she has gotten published are ‘Black Brother White’, ‘Tom Appleby’, ’Day to Remember’,  ‘A Waltz for Matilda’, ‘The Girl From Snowy River' , and ‘Fire’. She writes fiction and non-fiction books.
A few of her books are part of the Australian Curriculum including ‘Diary of a Wombat’ and ‘Flood’.
