Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The locations we decided to use for our music video were at our sixth form drama room as our band room and Wintervile in Victoria park for a romantic scenes. This was decided as we listened to the lyrics which helped us come to the conclusion of a romantic love story. Listening to the lyrics gave us a feel as to where the music video should go.
Location
The romantic scenes came to life at Wintervile. All the shots filmed at Wintervile gave off the romantic love story feel, as it is set at a winter festival. The location and characters looked cosy, which went well with the fact that this was set and filmed in December, the christmas time period.
We filmed Michael and Stacey being together as a couple who are happy and enjoying their time at a winter festival. There are a lot of bright lights due to all the rides and attractions, which is parallel to the characters happiness.  This location is a perfect match for couples.
Andrew Goodwin's key features of a pop music video would state that this music video is illustrative. As the music video explains the lyrics and meaning of the song.  Meaning that the audience know exactly what is going on in the music video, as the lyrics and the music video's are in sync with eachother.
Chris Brown's "This Christmas" is an example of how our music video relates to real life examples. As in this music video, Chris Brown is singing in the street which is set at christmas time. As the same cosy christmas feel is present here.
Real life examples:
Draft Punk "Get Lucky" is basic as it only has different shot types of the band members but is also still interesting. This also is the case in our music video, as we have a lot of shots of each band member.
Conventions
Many different types of conventions were used to make this music video. From lip syncing, the different shot types and camera movement

Editing: Through editing, I was able to use fade and dissolves to make the music video look better. As each shot will flow better instead of just jumping to the next shot. Also the use of the drum beat made it easier to edit the footage in sync better.

Lighting&Colour: Originally in our music video, parts of the footage had black and white scenes. This was to represent  the singer reminiscing on the good times he had with his partner. This was too confusing so we took it and, although due to the band room being dark it's easily noticeable of the different time periods, in which he is singing in.

Costume: The band members wore smart casual clothing which made them seem like a real professional band but also they would need to look casual to appeal to the teenage and young adult audiences.
Excellent Gentlemen is a versatile band, meaning that they fit into more than one genre:

Indie = The band could be considered indie, as the band is shown throughout the music video as they would be like in a real indie music video. Also the music video has some dark and dull colours to it.

Hip hop and R&B = The music its self fits into this category, as the beat is quite chilled and slow. An example of this would be Neyo "So Sick".

Pop = The music has bright colours, like a pop music video would have and appeals to a teenage audience. For example Rihanna "Only girl in the world".
