Character theory
Vladimir Propp said that the same types of character appear in all stories.

1. The Hero - This is the main character whom the audience will recognise as the key person in the story. This character is usually good.

2. The Helper - The main character usually has a companion who helps the main character, gives advice and supports the main character.

3. The Villain - This character is the opposite to the hero and is there to cause the disruption (Todorov) in the story. This character is usually bad.

4. The False Hero - This character pretends to support the main character in the story, and generally the audience will know this. However, the main character does not. This character could also be classed as the villain.

How does this apply to an existing film?

1. The Hero - there are essentially two main character's in this film; Anna and Elsa. They are both good characters, and this is clear to the audience.

2. The Helper - again, there are essentially two characters in the film that would be classed as the helpers; Kristoff and Olaf. Both of these characters accompany Anna on her search for Elsa in the film, and offer her help and advice along the way.

3. The Villain - The Villain in this story is the Duke of Weselton, as he orders the army to hunt for Elsa to have her killed and he wants to become the king of Arendale.

4. The False Hero - The false hero in this story is Hans, who appears to be a good character at the beginning of the film, but he then turns into a villain near the end of the film. He pretends to be 'in love' with Anna at the beginning of the film, but his intentions are to marry into the royal family in hope to take over.

How does this apply to my short film?
Invisible

1. The Hero - The main character in the story is Alice.

2. The Helper - Technically there is no helper in the story, however the main character does have a main group of friends that she longs to gain the attention of.

3. The Villain - Again, there is no character in the story that can be classed as a villain. However, you could theoretically class the fact that she is in fact dead as the villain, as it has caused the disruption in the story.

4. The False Hero - There is no false hero character in the story, however you could theoretically class the fact that the character Alice can see everyone else around her as the false hero. This is because as she can see the people around her perfectly, this wrongly convinces her that she is going about her normal day life and that nothing is different.
