Sumerian
Homes
The People in Sumeria had different social classes that determined the jobs they had and where and what type of house they lived in. the lower class mainly consisted of farmers lived in small mud-brick homes. These homes belonged to famers and their slaves.
These homes mainly consisted of one floor and had poor ventilation so the people slept and cooked on the roof unless weather conditions occurred they would sleep inside. The homes are made of mud brick or fired brick.

The middle class homes are similar to the lower class homes, but they are not just little shacks. The buildings consists with multiple rooms and are made of mud brick covered in adobe.

Upper class
The upper class homes were nothing like the middle or lower class homes, because they were U-shaped and had a private garden in the out cropping and the mud bricks were white washed to look cleaner and doing this made the houses look like the were made out of plaster almost so you could say this was ancient plaster. These homes belonged to Scribes, noblemen and priests and other government workers.

Monumental
Architecture
The Sumerians were some of the first people to use monumental architecture. At the time the builders did not know how to support such big buildings so these big buildings were solid. to make up for this the builders made very detailed and unique designs on the Ziggurats so there would be a facade of shadows. The Ziggurats were multi tier buildings with stairs coming up to a shrine and thats where the god lived at. The city-states were based around these buildings, because the upper class houses were closest to then and the middle classes were in the middle of town and the lower classes were on the outskirts of the city.
Key ideas
the beginning of huge structures
place of worship
in the middle of city
The Walls
A city-state needed walls to survive. The walls were constructed to protect the city, because there were almost no natural barriers in the flood plains. The Massive Walls would surround the whole city. The walls were made of thick and hard mud brick. The gates to the city were made of wood with bronze reinforcements. These walls also had sections were boats could come through but they still had doors to protect from trojan horse like attacks.
