"In a world ordered by sexual imbalance, pleasure in looking has been split between active/male and passive/female. The determining male glaze projects its fantasy onto the female figure which is styled accordingly."

To put Laura Mulvey's quote into my own words I think that she is suggesting that music videos are made by men and made for men to fantasize on women's bodies.

Laura Mulvey discusses the fact that in music videos women are 'dismembered'. This means that there is no focus on women as a whole but instead a part of their bodies, eg. Legs, bum, breast. However men are always shown as a whole.

Chris Brown, Tyga - Bitches N Marijuana

This music video is a perfect example of Laura Mulvey's theory of music videos. From the very beginning of the video we see a split screen of Tyga and Chris brown with girls. We only see Chris brown and Tyga's face and the girls have been dismembered, we only see parts of their bodies such as legs and arms. Throughout the video one of the base tracks is a girl pole dancing, she is wearing minimal clothing, doing sexual poses and we do not see her face. 2.04mins - 2.30mins in is an example. The women in the video also are not wearing a lot of clothes.

J.R ft Trey Songz - Bestfriend

Laura Mulvey's Theory can also be applied to this video. First thing that becomes noticeable throughout the video is how every woman in the video is either wearing a bikini or a swimsuit, none of them are fully clothed. However the two men (Trey Songz and J.R) who are in the video are fully clothed throughout.

From 28 seconds in till 1.46 seconds, the video is focused on two girls dancing on each other indecently and the women have been dismembered, the camera mainly focuses on their bums and legs and hardly shows their faces.

1.53 seconds into the video shows a woman sitting on the window of the car in a bikini we only see her bum and back she then continues to walk out of the car where she is wearing a minimal bikini and high heels. The focus of the camera is all on her bum and legs. She has been completely dismembered throughout her being in the scene, her head is not in the shot and we do not see her face.
