 The  way of life
I am the Quapaw chief (Dyamyn)
I am here to talk to you 7th graders about, the way of life of the quapaw tribe
Some of us Arkansas Native American people share many common beliefs and traditions. One of these is the belief in animism, which is the religious belief that everything has a spirit. People, trees, water, lightening, and every other part of nature are living beings that can live together in harmony and peace.
We also believe in a great spirit and others gods who control the universe. Most Native Americans cultures also have a creation story that tells how we came to be. Some believe the first humans came out of the underworld through a hole in the ground.
One of our old Caddo creation stories states that long ago we lived below the ground with animals, until one day the came out of underground into a cave.
According to our legend, the first person to come out of the cave was an old man carrying a pipe and fire in one hand and a drum i the other.
Then other of my family started to follow them out then as they came from the cave they settled but, sadly some people of our tribe had got left behind.
