The Aztec empire
The ancient Aztec Empire was located in modern day Mexico. It was established around 1450-1550.  
Government
The Aztec Government was ruled by an emperor.
The emperor placed one or two nobles in each city. The nobles were supposed to report to the emperor when something was wrong and run it how the emperor commanded, but majority of them ran their city however they wanted.

Religion
The Aztecs' religion did not have a name, but it was a polytheistic religion. The main gods were Huitzilopotchli, Tlaloc, and Quetzalcoatl.
Huitzilopotchli was the Aztecs' main god. He was the most fearsome and powerful god of them. Huitzilopotchli was the god of war, the sun, and sacrifice. The Aztecs performed human sacrifices in order to receive good crop yield or good weather in return.

 The Templo Mayor at Tenochtitlan is much more than an impressive pyramid. It was designed to represent the sacred snake mountain of the earth Coatepec (Quat-a-pec) down to the very last detail. It is said to the the site where The Earth gave birth to her son, The Sun.

Kinds of Art and Architecture the Aztecs 
The types of Aztec art varies. Literature was used to preserve history that was to be passed down to the next generation. Music was often used for religious reasons. Sculptures could be any size and could represent a ton of different things. Paintings were used for Hieroglyphs. Each color represented something different. Aztec writings like books were found in ancient libraries. At the paper was made by soaking fig tree bark and scraping them apart and pounding it all with a special stone to make it smooth.
