Evaluation of Killpop lyp-sync video
The video starts off with a medium shot of me which is one of the base tracks that we use throughout the video. As they are commonly used in music videos in the Rock genre.
Another shot is used throughout the video is a close-up taken taken from my left side. We decided to do a close-up as those are also traditionally used in the rock genre.
We also used a medium close-up as well, which are also seen in music videos in the Rock genre.
what are base tracks?
Base tracks are shots in a music video that the editor will constantly cut back to throughout the video. Normally for these shots, the artist would sing the song in its entirety and the camera would record it. This would then make it easier for the editor to cut back to those shots when needed.
For this video we made 4 base tracks, the reason to why we decided to make these particular ones is because we wanted to show the emotions that the main character is meant to be feeling throughout the video.
elements of Vernallis and goodwin's theories
With examples from Vernallis' elements used in music videos, we only used jump cuts throughout the video, as we cut to different shots in the same location.
Vernalls' theory
Goodwin's theory
With examples from Goodwin's elements used in music videos, again we only used one which was the lead singer looking towards the camera during the video.
how successful were you in using markers in your project?
We used markers when we were syncing up the video with the audio track, but once all of the video tracks were on the timeline, we felt it would be easier for us to edit based off the vocals rather than the beat of the song, so we did not use markers.
THANK YOU !
