Pelé
Pelé was born Edson Arantes do Nascimento on October 23, 1940 in Três Corações, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Pelé’s father was a footballer named João Ramos do Nascimento. He was named after inventor, Thomas Edison. Edson was given the nickname “Pelé” by neighborhood kids because of how he pronounced the name of fellow footballer Bile.

Pelé joined a youth squad coached by Waldemar de Brito, a former member of the Brazilian national football team.
Pelé first played as a forward for the Brazilian National football team at 16 years old.
Pelé began playing for Santos, a Brazilian professional football club at the age of 15.

SANTOS
Pelé played with Santos for 19 years. Pelé played in 1116 matches with Santos and scored 1091 goals. He played the position of forward and attacking midfielder. Pelé left Brazilian football in 1974.
COSMOS
A year after leaving Santos, Pelé went to play for the New York Cosmos in 1975 for three years. Pelé played in 111 matches and scored 65 goals. Pele played his last game on October 1st 1977 in a match between the Cosmos and Santos.

Runaround 
The bicycle kick is a very difficult move rarely executed in sports competition. The move is properly executed when your body is flipped backwards into the air, making a shearing movement with the lower limbs to get one leg in front of the other to strike the ball rearwards above head level.
The runaround is a series of movements used to get around the opposing player and lead the ball into the goal. Pelé perfectly executed this skill at the 1970 FIFA World Cup against Uruguay.

Pelé shocked the world when he perfectly executed the move in 1968. The move had not been seen in ages and brought a lot of joy to soccer fans across the world.
