Marshall Stewart Ball has surprised and defied the ones who said he wouldn't make it or couldn't succeed. In his 22 years (since 2009) he has published two books of poems Kiss of God and A Good Kiss. Inspiring others through the truth and power of his words, Marshall also appeared on Oprah (1999 again in 2000), did the induction into the Kid’s Hall of Fame, and naming and inspiring Thoughtful House Center for Children. Marshall Stewart Ball is truly a God made miracle.

Marshall Stewart Ball was born July 1986. Just five months after his birth Marshall was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy

Story of Marshall S. Ball: Understanding the Cause and Effect 
Cerebral Palsy affects the ability to move and maintain balance and/or posture. Cerebral Palsy is caused by brain damage or abnormal brain development before or sometime after birth. Cerebral Palsy is PERMANENT and not PROGRESSIVE, it all happens at once not in steps. There is no cure but can be helped with treatment such as a disability specialist or speech therapist.  There are four  different types of Cerebral Palsy  Monoplegia, Hemiplegia, Diplegia, and Quadriplegia. Marshall has Quadriplegia.

As a young boy Marshall attended a early childhood program in public school (name unknown) there his mother found teachers to be under teaching him because of his disability. His mother (Troylyn Ball) looked for a specialist to help teachers better understand Marshall and his mind.

The story Marshall S. Ball: Teaching a special Child 
After sometime of searching his mother found Dr. Keith Turner from the University of Texas in Austin, a specialized person for disable children who had been misdiagnosed. Marshall was evaluated when he was at least 3 and a half to four years-old. Marshall at that time was video tapped and being taught as a regular child would be. Dr. Turner as well as Dee Dee Ramos Barrera his speech therapist helped Marshall discover new ways to communicate and learn.

Marshall was proven to be an Autistic-Savant. Which virtually allows him to understand things before they were taught to him , learn faster, and know things others 4 times his age would have to go to school understand. For example if you gave him the word like Dendrofilous, without having to learn Marshall would know that that word  meant loving trees enough to find a home within them.

When Marshall was 5 he tested at a 3rd grade schooling level. When he was 9 years-old, he tested at a 12th grade reading level.

Though Marshall was able to do all these great things, he could never really communicate. As a child Marshall would never use his hands to talk or play, his source of communication was his head. Until his mother found that if she pressed  between his head and shoulder his arm would raise. This process is called Proprioceptive Feedback.

Proprioceptive Feedback is when you can control muscle contraction in response to external force. Using stretch receptors in the muscles to keep track of joint movement. For example when Marshall's mother presses between his head and shoulder it causes his arm to raise.

Marshall's brother Coulton (boy on the left) was also diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Two out of the three brothers have Cerebral Palsy.
