Evaluation Q7.
Looking back at your preliminary task , what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the final product?
Pre-Production
As we were going to begin filming our prelim , we were all over the place not sure of what each of us would be doing. I believe this was because we never planned out what we were going to do on a storyboard. However , in the title sequence. We planned out what each person in the group was going to do which had major impact on our title sequence , further more this allowed us to save time to book cameras and venues for this. In addition , we were able to plan costumes of our sequence such as football kits and hoodies   whereas in the prelim we were all wearing casual/similar clothes. We also researched other teen dramas to influence us in what we do , wear and our action.
Mise En Scene
Title sequence
Prelim
Whereas in our title sequence , we all planned what we were going to do and use. We had various locations off site of college compared to the prelim. We also had set costumes which each character of the group as our characters were different and we had to challenge stereotypes . James and Dan were dressed as footballers whereas Michael and Terrence were dressed like the typical teenagers who are members of a gang. As you see below the different attires and locations
In the prelim  , we all looked pretty similar and casual as we never planned what type of clothes we were each specifically going to wear . Further more , the setting was rather basic as it was based in the college which was rather boring and uncreative. In addition , our posture and attitude did not support or challenge any stereotypes , however one character who was a 'dealer' had the attitude and the costume a dealer would wear.
As you can see here
Camera
In the prelim , there were different shots used but they were pretty basic in narrow areas. Due to lack of research and watching how other films do their shots , we were unable to make the prelim look professional.
Prelim
Title sequence
In the title sequence , we had an enormous amount of shots which include close  ups , extreme close ups , long shots and extreme long shots , this was able to do as we researched other youth dramas and saw the type of  shots they had and so we put it to practice in our one. One which influenced us was the Inbetweeners as that's what our sequence aimed to look like.
Editing
Editing the prelim only took about one or two lessons as it was not long , to do this we used final cut pro to link the scenes together and create a prelim. We were assigned different tasks to do , some used final cut and some used garage band to create the sound track used in the prelim.
Prelim
Title Sequence
Editing our title sequence took many lessons , this was because we were given various of feedbacks and kept having to change it. Further more , we had many of the same shots but at different ranges. There were many softwares used to edit , we used final cut , garage band and motion to edit our title sequence. Where as in the prelim we used one and you can see the difference.
Sound
For both the prelim and the title sequence , garage band was used to create a soundtrack and set the audience a view of what type of film this is
Prelim & Title sequence
Lighting.
Prelim and Title sequence
Both the prelim and title sequence had around the same lighting but the prelim lighting was pretty dim and some things were hard to see.
Credits
The prelim did not have much credits , but when it did the title was not clearly visible as the black font colour was slightly camouflaging with the background
Prelim
Title Sequence
In the title sequence , we included every single title which a film should have , such as the actors , producers , distributors etc. The colour of the text stood out and was readable , they had a coherent structure throughout the opening
Conclusion- What i have learnt?
Through the production of the prelim and title sequence , i have learnt that planning and researching will make your quality 10x better as you can see the difference from when i did and then when i did not research and plan the films. Further more , i've learn how to use many different shots and how edit through using different softwares.
