HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES

The advanced Portfolio

During the advanced portfolio, We began to separate the whole scheme into a vast number of categories and stages. We had to research, plan and construct our Music video and then our Ancillary work for 3/4 months period. As you are aware these stages were followed by evaluation and in total various technologies were pivotal to come to this point where we are wrapping up the whole project. All the blogging is in a chronological order,the blogging applications and technologies such as Blogger, Power point, prezi and even camtasia to actual recording and editing equipment such as the digital cameras, Adobe Photoshop and very importantly Final cut pro. This is merely a brief explanation for the technologies that were used successfully and during this presentation I will be going into depth of where we used certain technologies why and crucially how it helped.

The technology which i have used through the process of the research, planning and evaluation.

I used blogger, emaze, timetoast, prezi and thinglink to present my planning and processes of the music video for example the editing stages

Adobe Photoshop to practice and design our digipak and advertisement for our artist

We used a JVC to record all our footage for the music video.

Used a still camera to capture the process of the music video

Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to advertise/promote the upcoming artist. Also to contact the teachers about our goal and location of filming

Final Cut Pro to process all footage from memory card to begin and finish the editing process of the music video.

Handbrake to compress the footage from final cut pro so the music video is able to be processed onto the internet/vimeo

Process of the Blogging

Throughout the process of planning, researching and constructing the final piece including my ancillary work, I had to post near enough every single detail of the planning, editing and designing for my ancillary work. I used presentation sites such as prezi and emaze to present my planning, research and constructing the ancillary work. Using presentation sites allowed me to improve on my creativity skills which was a great boost when it came to thinking of ideas for the music video and the final ancillary work. Using blogger was a great idea because it helped me to post all my work into one place which made it a lot easier when I was looking for something and it also helped me to keep more organised. Blogger allowed me to boost my skills in planning, researching and keeping myself organised, it also helped me to understand the process as well so I knew I was on track and weren't missing anything.

Filming for the Music Video

During the filming of the music video, we ensured that we had all the equipment which was needed and was to make sure that all the tech equipment was charged for example the lights and batteries.

I personally felt confident because I was a feature in the music video, because I

wasn't filming I made sure that my other group members weren't falling behind or struggling with anything.

We all had to make sure we were all meeting at the right time and in the correct location. If there was a problem with the filming day we would all communicate through our phones on an application (Whatsapp) so we would know if we had to go to plan B

Editing Process

To edit the final footage of the music video we used a software called Final Cut Pro. We were always placed into the editing suite if we were not filming on that day of college. Work shops were always open at lunchtime and after college hours. The editing suite was a very busy place when people reached the editing stage because everyone wanted to perfect their music videos with such small vacancies in the editing suite. We spent a lot of time on the editing process because it is one of the most important parts of the music video, we needed to make sure every single footage which was placed in the music video made sense and was well suited towards the soundtrack, we had to make sure the footage was in sync with the soundtrack and beat. We had to add transitions such as cross dissolves and smooth camera if the footage wasn't stable enough to place on the music video. We were posting the process of the editing stage on Blogger. Each day we would post what we were planning on doing and what changes we have made towards the music video.

Ancillary Process

To create and design my ancillary products I was using Adobe Photoshop to create my Digipak and advertisement. I was using teachers advises and help when needed when designing. Sometimes I would just play around with the tools and see if there is another way around something I am trying to do. I also used the internet for YouTube tutorial videos for any other style of creations. It improved on my creativity skills and my Photoshop skills really well, while designing the Digipak I gathered a bunch of skills and tricks in Photoshop because I spent a lot of time doing my ancillary products. At first I was just above average on using Photoshop but will all the support from the staff I can now near enough say I am one step closer to a professional Photoshop er.
