Feedback
My first piece of audience feedback
I ensured that I asked a variety of ages within my target age, this meant asking teenagers and adults between the ages of 15 and 55 years old. I also asked 2 males and 3 females so that I had the opinions of both genders as I want my film trailer to appeal to everyone. If I had only focused on teenagers then it would not have taken into account a more mature opinion.

I think that this early audience feedback was an advantage because it allowed us to see what was going to work with the resources we had. We were limited in terms of budget and location therefore we needed to be creative but ensure it was believable. We ended up deciding on a hitman crime thriller about a boy at school being an undercover assassin.
I asked my audience for verbal feedback to determine whether they liked the genre and if it was something that would appeal to them. Then I pitched three ideas with different narratives and asked them which one they preferred as well as any strengths or weaknesses. This allowed us to obtain their opinions and incorporate elements to suit their taste so that they would be likely to watch it.

Audience feedback was useful at this stage because it gave the planning some direction and led us to make important decisions about the narrative and genre. If we hadn't asked our audience we may have created film trailers that were not intriguing to our target market, therefore our production would not have been successful. The responses helped us combine the best parts of each idea into one so that it appealed to a wider range of people.
Market research
Market research was very important as we wanted to meet the needs and wishes of our target market. We asked whether they were male or female, age, which idea they preferred out of the three and if they had any recommendations. This added to the verbal feedback that we had received before as it included a much larger sample size. I think that this was very useful because it determined whether their opinions matched the previous ones so it gave us a clear indication of what we needed to do to make our film trailer successful.
We conducted some market research to obtain more information about our target audience. We used an online survey on surveymonkey.com so that our audience could respond via social media and the internet. This made them more likely to take part because it was simple and quick to do. We posted the link to the online survey on twitter and facebook and also send the link over text message and imessage to contacts. By doing this, it enabled us to access a wide range of people and to get anonymous responses meaning that people could be completely honest.  Their responses were sent directly to our email address and the website also created graphs to show the final result.
Teacher feedback
It was important to get feedback from my media teacher to check my progress so I knew how I could improve to reach the next grade. This was written feedback that I could then take a photo of and put onto my blog as feedback evidence. I responded to this feedback by making the amendments that were recommended. I filled in the students comment box to show that I had read and understood the feedback and indicate that I will take action on making my research and planning excellent.
Questionnaire for production company and film logo
On the second page, I displayed my production logo ideas and asked my target market to circle their preferred choice. This was a quick questionnaire that did not take the audience long, I asked 20 people ensuring that half were male and half were female to get a fair, balanced result. I ensured that a wide age range of 15-55 years old were approached so that I could incorporate likes and dislikes of many age groups.
I designed a questionnaire on Microsoft Word so that I could hand it out to my target audience.  I displayed my film logo options on the first page with a tick box next to them so the audience could select their favourite. I asked them to tick one so that there would be a clear result so the questionnaires would be more decisive as I was unsure of which one to choose. The audience response encouraged me to choose one particular one.
Questionnaire
I handed out my questionnaire to the class, this included 7 females and 2 males. The majority of this audience were either 17 or 18 years of age, therefore when I carry out more audience feedback I will ensure I gather responses from other age ranges. I will also ask more boys because my feedback is predominantly from girls and 'Infraction' is targeted at both sexes.

I have uploaded photographic evidence of these questionnaires on the next few slides so that I am able to analyse the responses and reflect on my own products. This will allow me to make amendments or  discuss what I would do differently if I could do this project again.
I designed a short questionnaire to give out to my audience while they were watching my trailer. This meant that I could get constructive feedback, either of what went well or what could be improved. Their responses would enable me to adjust certain areas of my trailer to make it more appealing or to improve editing.

Questionnaires are effective ways of getting feedback because they are anonymous so people are more likely to be honest. I have used a variety of question and answer styles, some need to be circled, others require a more detailed answer. This gives the audience a prompt of how much of their opinion is needed and means that it's not too time consuming.
Question 2 and 3
3: Then I asked whether the trailer would intrigue them to go and watch the film and to circle either 'yes' or 'no'. Each member of my audience said 'yes', this suggests the trailer was exciting and it would encourage them to go and see the film at the cinema. It is important that the trailer creates plenty of interest otherwise the film wouldn't be successful if it didn't catch people's attention.
2: I asked my audience whether they enjoyed the trailer and to circle 'yes' or 'no'. Each member of my audience said 'yes', this is a positive piece of feedback because it tells me that they liked the trailer and didn't find it boring. By enjoying the trailer it is more likely that they will pay attention to other products such as posters, billboards etc.
Question 4 and 5
5: I asked my audience 'were there any areas that need improving or suggestions?' and again gave them a few lines for their answer. A few suggested darker lighting effects in some areas to change the mood to make it more dreary. One identified that a cut between two clips didn't flow therefore it is a minor fault that can be rectified. A couple of audience members thought a few more shots could be added and that certain short bits could be re-filmed to make dialogue clearer.
4: I asked my audience 'what was your favourite part of the trailer?' and gave them a few lines to write their response. Quite a few people thought the editing worked well because it became quick and built up the suspense. Others liked the camera angles and how they changed quite regularly to keep it interesting. Overall, my audience liked the first scene the best when the burglar broke into the house because it changed the tempo suddenly and made it captivating.
Question 6 and 7
7: This question asked the audience if there were enough inter-titles and if not, which ones would they like to see? Every audience member said that there were plenty and that they helped to develop the sense of narrative. This is important so the text supports the clips that are being conveyed, they need to interlink and be placed at appropriate times in the trailer so the audience can understand and follow the story line.
6: I asked my audience whether they liked the soundtrack and if it was appropriate for my hitman crime, thriller film.  Every single audience member circled 'yes' and some added a further comment saying that it was very suitable for my genre and the volume and tempo built up and dropped in places. One described the soundtrack as 'chilling' suggesting the soundtrack made them pay attention and had them on the edge of their seat.
Question 8
8: In the final question, I asked my audience if they would be able to identify the genre of the film from the trailer. I gave them 'yes' or 'no' to circle. Every audience member circled 'yes' showing that they could recognise particular signs, plots, themes and props. Some individuals put 'Thriller', 'Crime thriller', 'Thriller?' beneath to show that they could name the genre from viewing the trailer once showing that it was quite obvious. There is a fair amount of action involved in this trailer too although it's not on a large scale that is why I think my audience correctly believed it was a crime thriller.
